KINGTON BAPTIST CHURCH

We're a small, friendly congregation, we love and trust the Lord Jesus Christ, believe his Word and with his help aim to live for him in love and service.

This month is Easter: when Jesus proved to the utmost his love for his people. Now he demands our utmost for him. After his resurrection, the Lord asked Peter: 'Do you love me more than these?' He asks you: 'Am I first in your life?' Jesus put it bluntly: 'If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.'

(Luke 14.27-28) We'd do anything for our 'nearest and dearest' but Jesus insists that compared to him they must come nowhere. We sing, 'Jesus we love you, so we gather here'. We gather here because he has promised to meet us here. Wouldn't it be a shame if we chose to be somewhere else when he is here!
